The following financial incentive programs are
available to assist current and potential
business/property owners in the designated downtown
district within the City of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Eligible projects must compliment the Mission and Vision
of Prairie du Chien Downtown Revitalization, Inc.

Downtown Prairie du Chien
Cooperative Loan Pool - Created to
provide assistance to new and existing businesses.
Projects eligible for this program include facade and/or
interior renovation, leasehold improvements, and
acquisition of commercial or retail property located in
the City of Prairie du Chien Downtown Revitalization
Program District. With the exception of new business
construction, the real estate acquisition component of
the program requires a “significant” interior or
exterior renovation/improvement project to accompany the
purchase. “Significant” renovation/improvement will be
defined as the greater of $10,000 or 20 percent of the
project cost or purchase price.

Revolving Loan Fund - To
encourage business investment in the Downtown by using
the City of Prairie du Chien’s Revolving Loan Fund as an
enhancement for participation of the existing loan pool
commitment which has been made by the banks.
Participation is not exclusive to businesses
participating in the bank loan pool. The Revolving Loan
Fund shall be used as a tool to encourage exterior
facade enhancement as well as interior property
improvements. The Revolving Loan Fun may also be used
for business inventory.

Facade Improvement Grants -
Designed to assist property owners with facade
renovation/improvements including masonry
rehabilitation/stabilization, window
rehabilitation/replacement, false facade removal,
painting, awnings, construction, etc. Grants of up to
$1,000 per facade improvement project are available.
Prairie du Chien Downtown Revitalization Design
Committee and the City of Prairie du Chien Design &
Preservation Commission must approve design plans prior
to funds being granted.

Sinage Improvement Grants -
Designed to assist downtown businesses/property
owners with signage improvements. Grants of up to $250
per signage improvement project are available. Prairie
du Chien Downtown Revitalization’s Design Committee &
the City of Prairie du Chien’s Design & Preservation
Commission must approve signage design prior to funds
being granted.
