TRICOR started in the insurance business dating back to 1945 when Virgil and Ella Fritz first hung their shingle in Potosi marking the start of what is today TRICOR Insurance & Financial Services. The Fritz family has maintained ownership, as well as continuing the ideals and values set forth back in 1945.

There have been a lot of changes over the years, from the merging in of new partner agencies, to the vast changes brought on by the critical role that today is played by automation.

Today, TRICOR operates in several cities located throughout Wisconsin and Iowa. Yet, with all its growth and changes, TRICOR continues to maintain the same standards of service and care for its clients that made them the agency of choice long ago.

Chris Mara joined our team over 20 years ago and opened our Prairie du Chien office in 1987. Chris is one of very few agents in Southwest Wisconsin to have earned his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation as well as being a Certified Insurance Counselor. He specializes in Business Insurance.

Chris moved our office to its present downtown location at the corner of South Michigan and East Wisconsin in 2002. He was born and raised in Prairie du Chien and along with his wife Mary, is raising his four children here. He wanted TRICOR to be part of the “heart and soul” of the community. His commitment to the downtown and PDRI has become our commitment.

Julie Bunders joined us over 10 years ago to become a personal lines specialist. She has since earned her CISR designation as Certified Insurance Service Representative. Julie and her husband John are lifelong residents of Crawford County and live in rural Wauzeka with their four children.

Both Chris and Julie have their specialties but our agency provides a complete line of insurance products and financial services so we have specialists within our agency that travel to the Prairie du Chien office on a regular basis to handle any other customer needs.

Our employees remain our greatest asset. As we approach the future with over 100 employees, our primary goal remains to afford our clients the local personal service they have grown to expect with TRICOR.

As the demands in today’s fast moving business climate increase and the need for more and larger markets increase, we feel our base of companies can meet this challenge. We represent over 50 companies, some from Wisconsin and Iowa such as Acuity Insurance, West Bend Mutual, Wilson Mutual, Society Insurance, Employers Mutual, United Fire and General Casualty. We are also are proud of great relationships with large national companies such as AIG, CNA Companies, St. Paul/Travelers, Zurich Insurance and the Hanover Companies.

Our goal remains to provide our clients with local service from people they know and trust like Chris Mara and Julie Bunders, yet using the power of automation to make the vast world of insurance available to their every need.
